Why homeowners consider it
- It is a true modulating inverter. Moov states the compressor adjusts its speed from 20% to 100% rather than cycling on and off, which is where the efficiency and the low noise come from: pool heating is a long, low-load job, and a unit that can run slowly for hours suits it better than one that can only run flat out.
- The published warranty is 3 years labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger, the same terms across every model in the line.
- The heat exchanger is titanium, which is the right material for a salt pool or a coastal install, and it is standard rather than an upgrade.
- The line covers a wide range of pool sizes from one platform: 45,500 BTU/hr on the MI500 up to 134,000 BTU/hr on the MI1400, so the same controls and the same service parts apply whether the pool is small or large.
- It is quiet. The manual specifies 50 dB(A) or less at 10 feet for every model, and Moov's technology page claims as low as 48 dB at 1 meter at half speed. On a zero-lot-line Sarasota property where the equipment pad sits under a bedroom window, that is a real consideration.
What to know before buying
- Service network is the honest caveat with this brand. Moov Pool Products is run out of Quebec City and its manual states that every warranty claim must be approved by an authorized Moov employee. Far fewer Florida technicians have opened a Moov than have opened a Hayward, Pentair or Jandy, so ask who will physically perform warranty labor on your pad — and get the answer before you buy, not after.
- The efficiency claim cannot be compared like-for-like. Moov publishes "on average 8" for COP across the inverter range instead of a figure at the industry test point, so it cannot be set beside a fixed-speed unit's published COP at 80°F air / 80°F water / 80% RH without a caveat. The manual carries an AHRI Certified mark, but Moov does not print the rated test-point number on the product page.
- Cooling is a different product. The MI models are heating units; Moov states that "the FIC product line has the same characteristics as the MI models, but has the cooling option," and the owner's manual is written for MI(C) variants. If you want a heater that can also chill the pool in August, specify that model explicitly on the quote.
- Capacity is advertised two different ways, and the inconsistency starts with Moov. Its product page lists the MI900 at 82,000 BTU/hr, but its own Full-Inverter technology page calls the same units the "90k, 110k et 140k models", and the retail channel follows that naming. An 8,000 BTU/hr gap is enough to change a sizing decision, so make sure the quote, the sizing calculation and the model number all refer to the published 82,000 BTU/hr figure rather than to a marketing name.
- The warranty has conditions worth reading. Moov's manual states the warranty begins at purchase and is only valid on the first install, that installation-date documentation is needed if the install is delayed, and that claims are refused for improper winterization, storm damage and installation by a technician who is not qualified for the work.
- Plan the electrical early. The MI900 needs a 30 A breaker at 208-230V single phase; the MI1100 needs 40 A and the MI1400 needs 50 A. Older Florida panels frequently need work before any of these go in.
Warranty, term by term
The warranty only matters on the parts that actually fail. Here is how this one splits up.
- Parts
- 5 years
- Labor
- 3 years
- Heat exchanger
- 10 years
3 years labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger are the terms published on Moov's Inverter product page for every model in the line. The owner's manual adds the conditions: coverage begins at the date of purchase, is valid on first installation only, and claims must be approved by an authorized Moov Pool Products employee. Claims are excluded for damage from improper winterization, weather events, and installation by a technician not qualified for the trade. Professional installation / authorized-channel requirements may apply.
Why the heat exchanger matters
The heat exchanger is the part of a pool heater that actually moves heat into the water, and what it is made of decides how long the heater survives Florida water chemistry. Here is what the four materials mean in practice.
- Copper
- The traditional material and the cheapest to build. It transfers heat well and is fine on a well-balanced chlorine pool, but it is the least forgiving of low pH, high chlorine and salt. On the Gulf Coast it is usually the first component to fail.
- Cupro-nickel
- Copper alloyed with nickel. It gives up a little heat transfer in exchange for much better resistance to unbalanced water chemistry and salt. On gas heaters this is the upgrade worth having in Florida, and some manufacturers now ship it as standard.
- NiTek (nickel alloy)
- A nickel-alloy exchanger used on some gas heaters as a corrosion-resistant alternative to copper. Positioned between cupro-nickel and titanium in both durability and price.
- TitaniumThis heater
- Effectively immune to pool water chemistry, including salt. It is the standard on quality pool heat pumps and the reason a heat pump can sit on a salt pool for years without exchanger trouble. It is expensive, which is why you rarely see it on gas heaters.
Whatever the material, plumbing order matters just as much: a chlorinator or salt cell belongs downstream of the heater, never upstream.
How we scored it
- Warranty scores high on paper: 3 years labor, 5 years parts and 10 years on the heat exchanger. It is held below a 5 because support depth in Florida is unproven compared with the brands whose parts sit on every distributor's shelf.
- Titanium exchanger standard is the right specification for salt pools and coastal air; durability loses half a point only because Moov publishes little detail about the cabinet and water-path construction.
- Inverter modulation is genuinely efficient at the low loads that make up most of a Florida heating season, but the published COP is an average across the speed range rather than a figure at the AHRI test point, so it cannot be compared directly to a fixed-speed unit's number.
- Serviceability is the weak spot and the reason this record does not score higher. The brand is run from Quebec City, warranty claims run through an authorized Moov employee, and far fewer Gulf Coast technicians have worked on one than on the major pro-channel brands.
- Controls are better than the category average for the price: a documented Wi-Fi setup and a manufacturer app, but no published integration with Pentair, Hayward or Jandy automation.
- Value is strong — an inverter platform with a 3/5/10 warranty at a mid-range price tier — which is what lifts the total back to the guide's 4.3 starter score.

MI900 questions
Which Moov Inverter size fits my pool?
The line runs from 45,500 BTU/hr on the MI500 to 134,000 BTU/hr on the MI1400, and the MI900 at 82,000 BTU/hr is the middle of the range. Size it on the pool's surface area, the temperature you actually want and whether it is screened or exposed — not on gallons alone. We size against the pool before quoting rather than from a chart.
What electrical service does it need?
208-230V single phase, with a 30 A breaker on the MI900. The smaller MI500 needs 20 A, the MI1100 needs 40 A and the MI1400 needs 50 A. Because the compressor is an inverter with a soft start, the breaker requirement is lower than a fixed-speed unit of similar output, but the panel still has to have room.
Is it safe on a salt water pool?
The heat exchanger is titanium, which is the material you want on a salt pool. The plumbing order matters as much as the material: the salt cell or chlorinator has to sit downstream of the heat pump so chlorinated water is never pushed back through the exchanger.
Can I control it from my phone?
Moov publishes a Moov Pool app and the owner's manual contains a full Wi-Fi setup section, so app control is documented. What is not published is integration with pool automation systems such as Pentair IntelliCenter, Hayward OmniLogic or Jandy iAquaLink — so if the heater has to join an existing automation system, confirm how before you buy.
Does a Moov Inverter cool the pool as well as heat it?
Not the MI models on their own. Moov states that its FIC line shares the MI specification but adds the cooling option, and the owner's manual covers MI(C) variants. If you want heat and chill, that has to be specified as its own model number.
