Pool Heater Installation & Repair in Sarasota, FL
Solar pool heating, electric heat pumps, natural gas and propane heaters, installed, replaced and repaired by a licensed Florida pool contractor based right here in Sarasota.
Sarasota is home base. We heat pools from downtown and Gulf Gate out to Palmer Ranch, Fruitville and the keys. That covers new heat pump and gas heater installs, solar collector systems, heater replacements, and repairs on equipment somebody else put in.
We install every method rather than one, so the recommendation you get is based on your pool, your roof, your gas situation and how you actually swim. Beyond Sarasota we serve Manatee, Charlotte & Pinellas County as well.

What we do for Sarasota pools
What's different about heating a pool in Sarasota
General guidance from the jobs we run here, not a substitute for looking at your pool. Every one of these has changed a recommendation for us at some point.
Salt air on the barrier islands
Siesta Key, Longboat Key and Lido carry far more salt in the air than a pool six miles inland, and salt air is hard on heater cabinets, fasteners and heat exchangers. Titanium exchangers are standard in most pool heat pumps for exactly this reason, and on gas heaters a cupronickel exchanger is the upgrade worth asking about. Siting the unit out of direct spray and rinsing the coil now and then also buys you years.
Screened lanais and pool cages
Most Sarasota pools sit inside a cage, and a heat pump needs to breathe: it pulls a large volume of air across the coil and dumps it back out cooler. Crowd it against the screen wall or tuck it into a corner and it will re-ingest its own discharge air and lose capacity. We look at clearance on all sides and at where that cool exhaust ends up before we pick a spot.
HOA and new-construction communities
Lakewood Ranch, Palmer Ranch and the newer villages around them typically run an architectural review process. Roof-mounted solar collectors and anything visible from the street or a neighboring lot usually need approval first, and some communities have rules about equipment screening. It is worth starting that paperwork early, and we're happy to give you the drawings and spec sheets a review board asks for.
Tile and metal roofs change a solar install
Shingle is the simplest roof to mount solar collectors on. Barrel tile needs careful handling and different flashing details, and metal roofs have their own attachment method. None of this rules solar out, it just changes the labor and the hardware, which is why we want to see the roof before quoting a solar system rather than pricing it off the pool size alone.
Natural gas is neighborhood by neighborhood
Some Sarasota streets have natural gas service at the curb and some don't, even within the same zip code. Where there's no gas main, propane is the normal answer, and it changes tank siting, line sizing and the orifices in the heater itself. If you're set on gas, the first thing we check is what fuel you can actually get.
Mild winters suit heat pumps
A pool heat pump moves heat out of the outside air, so it works best when the air is warm, and Sarasota's winters are mild enough that a correctly sized unit runs efficiently through most of the year. On the handful of genuinely cold mornings its output drops, which is the main reason some homeowners pair one with solar or keep a gas heater for the spa.

What Gulf Coast homeowners say
A perfect 5.0-star rating on both review profiles, from 460+ on Angi and 15 on Google.
“Henry was professional, prompt and a definite expert in his field. He showed patience and explained the process clearly to us. Plus his price point was affordable. We highly recommend Henry.”
“I can't say enough about Henry. He was fantastic. He was so thorough and professional and took the time to explain everything. His workmanship is exceptional and exceeded my expectations. I will use him going forward for all of my pool needs.”
“After multiple attempts, and money, to figure out why our pool lights weren't working, Henry was the only servicer who correctly diagnosed the problem and addressed the issues. We did ultimately replace the fixtures and Henry provided the most competitive, and upfront, estimate as to the charge for parts and labor. He completed the repair, cleaned up any debris and dirt, and, unlike our experience with other companies, made certain everything was working properly. Would highly recommend.”
Sarasota pool heating questions
How much does a pool heater cost in Sarasota?
It depends on the method, the size of your pool and what's already on the equipment pad. Rather than quote a number we can't stand behind, our gallery lists real price ranges from past jobs, including heat pump, gas and full equipment projects. Every quote we give is free and itemized, so you can see what's driving the price.
Do I need a permit to replace a pool heater in Sarasota?
Pool heater work generally needs a permit, and the exact requirements differ between the City of Sarasota, unincorporated Sarasota County and the surrounding municipalities. We're a Florida Certified Pool/Spa Contractor (License #CPC1460367), and we handle the permitting a job calls for rather than leaving it with you.
Which heater works best for a screened-in Sarasota pool?
Heat pumps are the most common choice here, but they need real airflow clearance inside a cage, they pull air across a coil and discharge it cooler, so they can't be boxed in. If the only workable location is tight, a gas heater or solar may end up the better fit. We look at the cage, the pad and the runs before recommending anything.
Can you install a pool heater on Siesta Key or Longboat Key?
Yes, and we do regularly. The thing that changes on the keys is corrosion: salt air is hard on cabinets, fasteners and heat exchangers, so we favor titanium exchangers on heat pumps, suggest cupronickel where a gas heater is going in, and site the unit out of direct salt spray where the plumbing allows.
Is natural gas available for my pool heater?
That's street by street in Sarasota. Plenty of neighborhoods have natural gas at the curb and plenty don't, so propane is a common answer here. It's the first thing we check on a gas quote, because the fuel decides the tank, the line sizing and the heater's configuration.
Do you service heaters you didn't install?
Yes. We repair and maintain most makes and models of solar, heat pump and gas pool heaters across Sarasota regardless of who originally installed them, including diagnosing error codes and deciding honestly whether a unit is worth repairing or replacing.
We also cover the rest of the county
